I was saddened to learn of Moira’s passing from Maria Buchan, who cared for my mother, Sheila Grey. Moira was a marvellous friend to my mother over many years. Their shared interests and travel adventures made for endless stories and that caring affection. So my memories of Moira are of a very strong, forthright and intelligent woman who loved her family ... and what an active family life that was. Pivotal in the memories would be teaming up with Moira and Al to build canoes, buy a bus and head for the Northern Territory to paddle the Catherine and Daly Rivers. Of course, pictures of them atop Jack and May’s 4wD were classic. They loved the wilderness and learning about our wild life. And with their passion, they gave back volumes to John, Paul and I, as we got to share their stories and enjoy the lighter side of their yarns over cups of tea. The laughter was wonderful and often helped carry us through the very difficult passages of our lives. They had their dark nights as well as that time in the sun.
My brother’s and I have much love, respect and compassion for your family now as you farewell this wonderful, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. May peace be with you. Our thoughts and prayers. Josephine and Bill Milne-Home, John and Christine Grey, Paul and Gayle Grey ... and all our families.
