My husband Gilbert and I are so happy that we met the man who we had heard so much about over the years from my niece Margie. The night of the trivia event/power cut where we all ended up in candlelight in our dining room was so memorable. Doug, you have kindness and love in your being - and this will live on ....

The world has lost an amazing Man. Gone but NEVER forgotten. I feel extremely privileged to have had you all in my life for the passed 30 odd years. Unforgettable memories reaching right back to baby sitting your girls, working in your Fush & Chup shop in Auckland, My first ride on a motorbike.... hold on Wee-Anne he said grinning from ear to ear, I promise not to go fast!!! Whatever!... put me off bikes for life. All life’s special moments have been shared with people as close as family, Dougie you have a special place in our hearts forever.......

Sleep peacefully dougie my ole mate from the moment I met you 33 years ago as my neighbour with Gloria and your two little blonde babies I knew that we would be good mates for ever .you were one of life’s special people with your sense humour and giving nature they say that only the good die young and were a good one you live in my heart and my families forever sa we think of you guys as family .you have left us some great memories :watching your girls opening their prezzies while we sipped on some bubbles Xmas morning.partying at our house till the early hours many times so long mate it was great
