I am sorry I cannot attend to celebrate Derek’s life. He was such a knowledgeable and humble man and the band he started is an enormous part of my life. He and Joan welcomed me in and I remember happy times at band BBQs and the special conducting duties. It seems incredible that Derek and Joan were just at our recent concert. You will be missed. X

Derek was such an inspirational influence in my musical life. I am forever grateful of the opportunity he gave me by allowing me to join the band where I gained many new skills, a wider musical appreciation and, best of all, a musical family like I'd never had before. His enthusiasm & passion for music were second to none! I loved the fact that he always had time to chat & was genuinely interested in what I had to say. I also loved the way he & Joan supported the band........I'll miss seeing him at future performances. Please accept my apologies as I'm currently interstate and unable to attend or perform at Derek's tribute. I'll always treasure the wonderful moments I had playing in the band under his musical direction. I send my deepest condolences to Joan & the family.
